Amy’s Flavour of the Month January 2006
Every month I will be giving you a list of things
that I can’t get through the month without….

Happy New Year!

A sprout is for winter not just for Christmas! If you don’t
like them whole, try shredding them and frying them in a little
butter, lots of black pepper and cubes of pancetta – delicious
served with mashed potatoes and Oxtail stew!

Join something new this year – I have never been a member of
the WI
although I support it whole heartedly so this year I am joining
up! The
Soil Association would be another good membership to hold.

Enrol in a cooking class this year – Two that take my fancy
are, Taste
- Italia www.taste-italia.com
which is run by Ursula Ferrigno one of my favourite people,
and St
Martin’s Bakery in the Isles of Scilly www.stmartinsbakery.co.uk
where you can learn how to make the perfect loaf this winter!

Make lots of soups from all the leftovers and freeze them and
have a soup party in February – serve soups, fabulous breads
and cheese and invite different people who you have been meaning
to ask for ages but never get around to it! Round off the evening
with an amazing pudding – something rich - and serve it with
a delicious pudding wine from Berry
Brothers and Rudd www.bbr.com
