Amy’s Flavour of the Month August 2004

Every month I will be giving you a list of things that I can’t get through the month without….

Recipes for Disasters

I just adored White Ladder Press’s latest book – Recipes for Disasters – fantastic for getting you out of a culinary hole! www.whiteladderpress.com  tel 01803813343

Blueberries

August is peak season for Blueberries – they are higher in antioxidants than any other fruit.  Start off each August day with a blueberry smoothie and see how good you feel!

My other August love is corn on the cob which should be hitting the shops abut now.  The thing to remember about corn is that you should cook and eat it as close to the time it is picked as possible so look for it at farm shops and roadside stands.

Luxury Plain Chocolate Bar

Waitrose is stocking Kinnerton’s delicious nut-free Luxury Plain Chocolate Bar £1.45 per 100g.  As well as being nut-free it is also dairy, egg and gluten free.  More than 1 million people suffer form nut allergies in the UK says Clive Beecham, MD of chocolate makers Kinnerton.  They are the first chocolate maker to create a designated Nut-Free zone in their factory in Norfolk.

Tamasin Day Lewis’s Tamasin’s Weekend Food

Another great book is Tamasin Day Lewis’s Tamasin’s Weekend Food www.amazon.co.uk beautifully photographed and written as though you and Tamasin are sitting round the kitchen table having a galss of wine and chatting about delicious food!
